velcro and cashmere

Nancy made an excellent point in the comments - Velcro and any wool are a bad mix, but the cashmere, oy! I have to be very careful with it. so I have come up with a plan - I've got my Koigu fingerless gloves that fit over the splint - voila! instant velcro cover. and stylish, too. And the Velcro barely grabs at the Koigu, so we're all good. Anonymous in the comments was wondering what pattern I was using - It's 198 yds. of Heaven (Ravelry link) - the same pattern I used for my sparkly silver grey shawlette. I'm making this pink cashmere one larger, to use up all the available yarn.

I'm doing some warm up knitting on the Owlie Cowl just to keep limber before I can go after the cashmere again on Friday. I do love this pattern, and my son is anxiously awaiting it... I seem to be okay as long as I don't overdo it, but with the long weekend at the cottage and the Olympics - well, it's almost inevitable that I will. I've got Advil at the ready...

So sorry to read about your tendonitis, I have personal experience with it.

I am also a physical therapist, so between the two, I figured I'd double check that you are keeping the anti-inflammatories on board "round the clock" so to speak. The pain killing properties kick in more rapidly than the anti-inflammatory ones. As well it is good to keep a steady blood level. Also ice can be a real help with decreasing inflammation. You may have already tried these things, or have medical reasons not to, but I figured I'd share what helps me, one sufferer to another!!

Good luck with your knitting.

An easy way to ice a joint is to freeze some water in a styrofoam cup. then you peel off the bottom and apply the ice. (keep a towel handy for drips....)

I've been icing my tennis elbow in prep and trying to knit Continental whenever I can to keep my more automatic, comfortable and quick English hand in tip top shape for the weekend. 'Talk about pressure to perform! ;)

Sorry to hear about your injury, but glad to hear that your MIL's biopsy came back cancer free. Knit on, but rest when you can.

Very clever using a mitt. But doesn't it make it harder to knit? All the bulk in your hand.

I'm sorry your wrist. I don't know what I'd do if my hands were laid up what with the knitting and redecorating, and the greenhouse work starting next week.
The fingerless glove is a great idea! I'm glad you stopped at my site to say "hi".
