Halloween 2009

We lucked out this year - Halloween falling on a Saturday gave us a chance to decorate the house beyond just the pumpkins.
We had fun with this - Husband and son did most of the outside, while I was busy carving out 3 (actually 4) pumpkins. Husband had requested a Frankenstein pumpkin, while son wanted the toothy guy. I opted for my favourite pumpkin in jail again. I usually don't repeat carvings, but I love this concept.
Rachel H - did you remember to steal this idea?

The boy's costume this year was "Death". When we were looking at patterns, he chose this, and I said "oh, you want to be the Grim Reaper". "Yeah, Mom, but you can just call me Death". Okay, so the concept of cute costumes is long gone... Who knew Death wore Nikes...

It was worth it when I could hear the kids yelling to their friends "You have got to see this house - it's wicked!" And for kids to mention they thought the decorations were cool and that they liked the pumpkins? That was sweet.

I'd say Death can wear whatever shoes he wants. Would YOU argue? Heh. the pumpkin in jail is fantabulous. Way cool

Nice idea. We actually had kids this year stop by. Appropriately aged kids! Most amazing.

One of my boys went as a cereal killer one year. It was miserable weather and he couldn't wear his costume, so we cut up all the cereal boxes and pinned the fronts to his heavy coat, and kept telling people what he was. Some people were appalled, but we thought it was funny. Maybe you had to be at our breakfast table to get it.

Needless to say, I think the idea of death is entirely right on.

Awesome decorations! We didn't even have a pumpkin this year. (No one in our house likes carving them.)

Like Carol says, if Death wants to wear Nikes, Death wears Nikes... I had a monk wearing board shoes and an AC-DC t under his robe...

LOVE your pumpkins - how hard is it to get the teeth white like that? (I sound like a pepsodent commercial, but you know what I mean...)
