I don't think I've ever blogged this project. It's a hooded vest, a Berrocco pattern - Truman - and I used an Australian Merino that I got on deep sale at the Kitchener Knitters Fair a couple of years ago. It's a pretty plain taupe colour.
Ignore the mess of my sewing room - I'm in the middle of a couple of projects.
I had just enough wool to make the hood - I would have made it deeper if I had more wool...
The front rib pattern is interesting and adds some interest to the front of the vest, but to be honest, I'm a bit meh about this. I may keep it, I may give it away... It looks OK, but not great. Plus, I think I"m realizing that I just don't wear vests much. It's hanging around, while I decide what to do with it.

It looks great, but I wonder whether it needs sleeves for you to enjoy it more often. Something in fairisle where you could use a beige that's not an exact match to pull it together, and use the same edging for cuffs. I also find that vests don't really cut it in our climate. It's either too warm for anything, or too cold to have a sleeveless item. Maybe with a denim jacket and the hoodie overlaps the collar?

Interesting pattern stitch. Quite striking.
Vests are perfect for that time of life where hot/not hot alternates randomly and frequently. I learned that this winter.
Oh I love that detail on the hood! I've never made a hood myself, 'funny since I always admire them on other people's projects!
I'm with you on the vests but then I also thought 3/4 sleeves were stupid until I started wearing them. I always admire your wllingness to give knits away - I always struggle with concern their new "home" won't care for them properly.
Can you add sleeves?
I always think, if I'm cold enough for a vest, I probably want my arms covered too, LOL.
The colour doesn't do much for me... I think cause it's a fairly plain pattern, it needs a bit of variation in the yarn (MY opinion only!). What if you over dye it a deep chocolate?
That's really cute!
The colour appeals to me and I do wear vests. But I'm often struck by the inconsistency of a pattern. A vest with a hood? If it's cold enough for a hood, you are probably wearing more than a vest.
If the love ain't there, do not wear. Better ripped back and save the yarn for something more special.
Donate it to a charity.
